A quick reminder regarding substitute players in the graded competition:
A substitute player of similar skill level is always used whenever available. If a player of similar skill is not available, the fixture committee may place a player who is stronger, however the games played by this player will not count towards the teams score. The player is used to give the opposing team the maximum number of games possible each week. A team cannot be placed at a disadvantage because of a substitute player on the opposing team.
The fixture committee will make a better effort of advising if a player’s matches will count or not, however as these decisions are often made with little time this is sometimes forgotten.
If you want a better explanation in determining whether a substitute matches will count or not please ask Jared.
The Bundaberg Open entry form is available. Please click to go to the form.
For Junior squad going to this event by bus, please decide which events you wish to compete in and send your entry in before closing date. Feel free to discuss with your coaches at squad training this Sunday.
Please limit Sunday events to either the Under 1500 rating or Under 1100 rating events. Please do not enter the events commencing at 11:30am or later as the bus will be leaving prior to these events finishing.
Season 1 of our Graded competition kicked off last Tuesday night with the largest numbers the club has seen participating for sometime. This season sees 4 divisions in play with 4 teams in Divisions 1 and 2 and 6 teams in Divisions 3 and 4! This means all 10 courts are in use on Tuesday nights and unfortunately if anyone turns up “for a hit”, they will be unable to do so once play commences at 7pm. Results of the Graded competition can be found in the results section.

The final season of 2016 come to a close Tuesday night with some great on-court action. Division 2 and 4 finals went down to the wire with the final matches being the deciders!
Division 1: With their number three player (S.Morgan) away it was a tough ask of team Alpha (D.Savige, M.Battilana) to pull out a win against team Beta (R.Stanley, J.Stanley, W.McHugh) but they certainly had a run at it after taking the doubles match in fourfollowed by M.Battilana playing well against club president, J.Stanley and leading two games to one. Our president found his range in the fourth set however and started playing a lot more aggressively to take the match in five and secure point number six to win the final.
Division 2: A nail biting final coming right down to the last match between B.Vucurovic and K.Abbott for the deciding point. Team Charlie (C.Payne, D.Treloar, B.Vucurovic) started strong taking five of the first seven matches and looked to have team Delta (A.Edwards, R.Richards, K.Abbott) all but beaten. Delta fought back taking the last four matches to clinch the win 6 – 5.
Division 3: Team Charlie (V.Austin, R.Murray, L.Gilbert) turned up with their A-game and took the first five matches against team Delta (M.Rose, D.Knight, S.Hogan). Delta’s number three, S.Hogan took the sixth match in three straight to keep the final alive, but thoughts of a comeback win were short lived when L.Gilbert defeated S.Hogan in five to secure the sixth point and the win.
Division 4: Another nail biter of a final requiring the full eleven matches for a result. Team Alpha (A.McHugh, B.Marshall, J.Stanley) were the odds on favourite after only losing one match during the regular season. Team Delta (K.Doyle, S.Hoile, T.Duffy) had put in extra hours of training in the lead up knowing they had a tough task. Two five set matches had spectators cheering players on with improved performances noticed in J.Stanley’s game taking K.Doyle to five games, but ultimately going down 11 – 8 in the fifth. B.Marshall had his match wrapped up at 10 – 6 in the fifth game against S.Hoile, only he decided to play hard and come back to win the match 12 – 10. Team Alpha were the victors at the end of the match winning 6 – 5.
